Agent Carter

What if James Bond was a woman?

More specifically, the name is Carter, Agent Peggy Carter. Marbys! Have you seen this fantastic show on Disney+ as yet? Marvel’s Agent Carter is funny, filled with action-packed scenes featuring a woman-lead cast, Marvel you have done it again!

This series picks up from when Captain America is presumed to be dead and a heartbroken Peggy (seems to have been ghosted by Captain America; in a literal content! Yikes!) continues her service with the S.S.R. After the war is over, she is reassigned to work in the New York location of the S.S.R as a telephone operator. It is an average job for a woman of the 1940s, even if it is a cover job for Agent Carter.

Unfortunately, Peggy is not considered an equal amongst her male coworkers, which results in her taking lunch orders and filing cases. Can you imagine? The one and only, Agent Peggy Carter, a trained spy, is treated as secretary and assistant to all the men in the office? All because she is a woman! So let me get this straight? James Bond is allowed to drive fast cars and have cool spy gadgets. While Agent Carter is notating whether or not you take your coffee with milk or sugar? Unbelievable!

It’s the hat for me!

In season one, with a nice red hat, navy blue suit, gorgeous red heels, and a gun in her purse! Peggy resumes the cover of a double agent; as she agrees to help clear Howard Stark’s name as a fugitive with the government and the S.S.R., agency. All while, she continues her domesticated work with her current employer.

It gets tricky when eventually, her two worlds collide. She then needs to rely on her teammates Sousa, Thomas, and her boss to believe her and clear Starks’ name; not to mention prove to them they have the wrong suspect.

Agent Carter, played by Hayley Atwell, is outstanding in this series! She really can be considered as a 007 not only in the 1940s but even now. She is intelligent, brave, and doesn’t take no for an answer; all while making the men of that period recognize a woman can be so much more than a file clerk.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

I fell in love with Peggy Carter long before, Marvel’s current series and the “What If” series (Marbys, it is animated but so good!) Agent Carters’ role just so happened to be reprised in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., another must-watch series! Daniel Sousa, played by Enver Gjokaj, meets Daisy Johnson, portrayed by Chloe Bennet. A S.H.I.E.L.D agent from the future goes back in time with her teammates; under the disguised of Agent Carter, in order to prevent a future event from happening ( this plays out over the last two seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D series.)

Peggy had made such a contribution in her time at the S.S.R.; that she affected the future and somehow pulled Sousa to that said future. To put the pieces all together you should watch both shows. The similarities between these two women-lead roles are astonishing! An observation I picked up on watching Agent Carter, you will see it too!

All roads lead to Hollywood

Season two brings everything together with past and future, from zero matter to Daniel Sousa moving to California and acquiring his own S.S.R. office. This series keeps you captivated, and I am hoping for more seasons. That’s for sure! Captain America honestly had some fantastic friends. Similar to, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series, it gives you all the action of the Marvel world, which should seriously do a cross with 007 in the future! If it hasn’t happened already! I hope you will answer a girl’s dream Marvel and 007 teams! Check out the bell for this article!
